A continuous ticket valid for multiple consecutive train journeys, each with a distance longer than 150 kilometers, is considered a Direct Ticket. For example, a journey with Mälartåg between Örebro and Linköping with a transfer to another Mälartåg in Eskilstuna. Direct Tickets have an extended right to rebooking and compensation for delays, as well as handling missed connections.
Resplus and pre-purchased single tickets
Resplus and Pre-purchased single tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg. The ticket is personal and valid for a specific departure and route. The tickets are sold through the national ticket collaboration Resplus and are available in two categories:
- Non-refundable and
- Refundable.
For Resplus tickets, a Kom-Fram-Garanti (Arrive Guarantee) is offered in case of disruptions. Resplus tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg in combination with another operator. For example, a journey between Eskilstuna and Gothenburg with a transfer between Mälartåg and SJ or MTRX express trains in Katrineholm.

X-trafik single ticket
X-trafik Single Tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg between Gävle and Furuvik if the ticket is valid for Gävle city (zone F1) - Gävle municipality (zone F) or has regional validity. X-trafik tickets cannot be used as partial payment for travel south of Furuvik.
