If you have an SJ Annual Pass, Interrail, or a local season ticket from UL, VL, X-trafik, Östgötatrafiken, or Sörmlandstrafiken, you can travel with Mälartåg. Read on to see what applies to your specific ticket.
Sörmlandstrafiken Season Ticket
- Sörmlandstrafiken’s 30-day Season Ticket and Annual Pass are valid for travel on Mälartåg. These tickets allow unlimited travel within their respective zones during the validity period. They are not personal.
- The ticket is available for purchase via the Sörmlandstrafiken app, sormlandstrafiken.se, and authorized resellers.
- Sörmlandstrafiken’s School Ticket (term ticket) is valid for travel on Mälartåg. It is personal and valid on weekdays during the school term, with a limited number of trips per day.
UL Season Ticket
- All UL season tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg.
- The ticket allows unlimited travel within its respective zone during the validity period.
- The ticket is not personal.
- Tickets are sold via the UL app, ul.se, and UL’s authorized resellers.
- UL School Cards are season tickets and valid on Mälartåg.
VL Season Ticket
- VL’s 30-day Season Ticket is valid for travel on Mälartåg.
- The ticket allows unlimited travel within the respective municipality or county during the validity period.
- The travel card must be validated on the platform before boarding.
- A loading receipt must be presented upon request.
- The ticket is not personal.
- Tickets are sold via vl.se and VL’s authorized resellers.
- VL School Ticket is valid for travel on Mälartåg. A loading receipt is not required for school cards.
Östgötatrafiken Season Ticket
- All Östgötatrafiken season tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg.
- The ticket allows unlimited travel within its respective zone during the validity period.
- The ticket is not personal.
- Tickets are sold via ostgotatrafiken.se and Östgötatrafiken’s authorized resellers.
X-trafik Season Ticket
- X-trafik’s 24-hour, 30-day, and Annual Tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg between Gävle and Furuvik if the ticket is valid for Gävle city (zone F1), Gävle municipality (zone F), or county-wide travel.
- X-trafik’s Senior Ticket, 65+ Gävle Ticket, Leisure Ticket, and School Ticket are also valid on this route.
- X-trafik tickets cannot be used as partial payment for travel south of Furuvik.
SJ Annual Pass and Recruit Card with Resplus
- SJ Annual Pass Silver, Silver Plus, and Gold with a Resplus supplement are valid for travel on Mälartåg.
- The ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys during its validity period.
- The ticket is sold through all SJ sales channels except the SJ app.
- From December 2022, the SL portion of the Resplus supplement can be displayed as a digital ticket in the SJ app, while the Mälartåg, SJ, and other valid parts remain on a physical travel card.
Interrail and Eurail
- Interrail and Eurail tickets are valid for travel on Mälartåg.
- The ticket allows unlimited travel throughout Europe during the validity period.
- The ticket is personal.
- Tickets can be purchased from europarunt.se, interrail.se, and eurail.com.
