Mälartåg single ticket
With a Mälartåg single ticket, you can travel comfortably and conveniently on Mälartåg’s five regional train lines in the Stockholm-Mälardalen region. This is an impersonal ticket valid for a specific departure and route with Mälartåg.
Fixed prices apply to the journey. This means that the price for your chosen route remains the same whether you purchase it a month or an hour before departure.
Right to travel at a discounted price
Children and Youth
When traveling with a Mälartåg single ticket, you can bring up to two children up to 6 years old per paying passenger. These conditions apply to both adult and youth/student tickets, regardless of where you purchased your ticket. Any additional children beyond the two per paying passenger travel at a discounted price (youth/student fare).
Student
To receive a student discount, you must be studying at a minimum of 75% study pace. Your study pace must be verified with an ID and a valid student ID with the SL symbol.

Where to buy your ticket
You can purchase your ticket through:
- Mälardalstrafik, renamed from Mälartåg app.
- Mälardalstrafik.se
- SJ.se, the SJ app, and ResPlus ticket resellers (e.g., Snälltåget, Vy)
- Physical resellers (with an additional fee)
You must have a valid ticket before boarding a Mälartåg train. Train tickets cannot be purchased onboard.
Easily Rebook Your Trip
If you have a Mitt Konto (My Account), you can rebook your single ticket yourself, as long as it’s before the scheduled departure, and for the same route in either direction. If you do not have an account, you can rebook your ticket by contacting Mälardalstrafik Customer Service at least 60 minutes before departure. When rebooking, the refund conditions are transferred to the new ticket.
If your departure is canceled, you can always travel on the next train or substitute transport without rebooking.
Mälartåg single tickets are non-refundable.

Buying and traveling with Movingo
With a Movingo period ticket, you can travel unlimited on your selected route or on all routes in the Stockholm-Mälardalen region, including surrounding local traffic. Choose between 30, 90, or 365-day validity.

Where to Buy Your Movingo Ticket
You can purchase your Movingo ticket through:
- Mälardalstrafik app
- Movingo app
- Mälardalstrafik.se
- SJ.se and SJ’s app (Movingo 5/30 not available here)
- SJ resellers and travel agencies (Movingo 5/30 not available here)
Regardless of where you bought your Movingo ticket, you need a smartphone with either the Mälardalstrafik app, the Movingo app or SJ’s app. Movingo 5/30 can only be purchased in the Movingo app, as it is not valid on SJ’s Movingo routes.
In the app and on mälardalstrafik,se, you can also view receipts and purchase history.
Traveling with Movingo on Local Transport
You can scan your ticket on:
- Buses in Sörmlandstrafiken, as well as within SL and VL traffic.
- Metro and commuter train gates in SL traffic.
- In Mälardalstrafik app you can also scan your tickets on buses in the UL traffic.
In other transport systems, show your ticket to the driver or ticket inspectors.
Train departures where Movingo is valid
When purchasing a ticket, you can see which departures are valid for Movingo. In the Mälardalstrafik app, the most time-efficient travel options for your selected Movingo route will be even clearer.
Traveling with Movingo to and from Arlanda
To travel to and from Arlanda C with Movingo, a passage ticket is required.

Lend your ticket
Movingo is a non-personal ticket and can be lent to others. During the spring of 2025, two parallel lending rules will apply depending on whether you purchased your Movingo ticket in the Movingo app or in the new Mälardalstrafik app.

Movingo ticket purchased in the Movingo app can be lent for 24 hours via the app. You do this by transferring it to another person who has the same app installed. Read more under the Terms of Purchase for the Movingo app.

Movingo ticket purchased in the Mälardalstrafik app can be lent for the current traffic day. The borrowed ticket automatically returns to the original purchaser at 03:30 AM each day.
Both the lender and the borrower must have the Mälardalstrafik app and create an account, which requires Bank-ID.
You can lend your ticket as often as you like during its validity period, but with the following limitations:

30-day or 90-day tickets: Can be lent to a maximum of 3 people.

365-day tickets: Can be lent to a maximum of 5 people.
Movingo 5/30 – how it works
With Movingo 5/30, you get five 24-hour tickets to use freely within 30 days. Once activated, a 24-hour ticket is valid on Mälartåg, Tåg i Bergslagen, Trosabussen, and local transport for 24 hours from the chosen route.
- Local Transport: The last journey must start before the ticket expires. If you have boarded a bus/tram or passed SL’s gates within the 24 hours, you can complete your journey to your final destination.
- Trains/Trosabussen: The ticket must be valid until the train’s/bus’s scheduled arrival time.
- Final Validity Day: A ticket activated on day 30 expires at 04:30 on day 31.
