Mälardalstrafik is part of a historic investment in regional train services, initiated by the regions of Stockholm, Sörmland, Uppsala, Västmanland, Örebro, and Östergötland. The goal is to make sustainable travel easier and to contribute to an attractive, vibrant, and growing region.

We are responsible for Mälartåg and its five publicly funded regional train lines, as well as the Movingo season ticket. Together with our owner regions, we are developing public transport to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
Public transport in the Stockholm–Mälaren region should be both attractive and easy to use. This is essential for commuters heading to work or school—and for supporting a strong business sector, vibrant universities, and a growing tourism industry.
With modern regional trains, frequent departures, onboard comfort, and smooth connections to other public transport, we are helping to build a stronger, more integrated transport system across the region.
Mälardalstrafik is owned by six regions in the Stockholm–Mälaren area. The company is governed by regional political representatives from its owner regions.
